Tibetan Language
Study Tibetan in Eastern Tibet. Courses in Lhasa and southern Kham dialects are both available for individuals and groups.
ETTI trains its language teachers in-house according to the latest methodologies in second language acquisition.
Lessons are communicative, giving students maximum time to practice and refine their skills.
Tibetan language courses can be combined with Chinese language courses and study tours. Students can also get involved in our Tibetan literacy project.
Chinese Language
ETTI offers quality communicative Chinese language courses for all levels. Private and small group lessons are available.
ETTI's Chinese program is headed by former Yunnan University Chinese-as-a-second-language lecturer Lu Chunmei. ETTI trains its language instructors in house.
Lessons are communicative, giving students maximum time to practice and refine their skills.
Students can combine Chinese language with Tibetan classes and a variety of study tours and home stays.
Study and Research Tours
ETTI hosts a range of study tours for overseas high school and college-level students and researchers, offering dormitory and apartment accommodation and full board at the Blue Moon Training Centre - an idyllic rural setting at the foot of the Thousand Lakes Mountains.
The Blue Moon Training Center is next to a Tibetan village, 8 kilometers to the west of the bustling town of Shangri-la (formerly Zhongdian).
Study tours can be tailored to suit all needs. Language courses can be combined with village home stays and English-language lectures in anthropology, Tibetan Buddhism, botany, geography and rural development.
Study tour options include treks to sacred mountains, glaciers and remote monasteries, and visits to Tibetan and other ethnic minority villages.
Tibetan and Chinese language classes start from RMB 65 (US$8) per hour for private lessons.
Proceeds fund ETTI's training-based poverty alleviation programs.
The Eastern Tibet Training Institute offers a range of Tibetan and Chinese language courses and study tours for international students.
Language courses are offered all year round with the option of live-in intensive programs in a Tibetan rural setting.
Language courses can be combined with study tours, adventure activities such as horse riding, trekking and climbing. ETTI also arranges village home stays in Tibetan and other ethnic minority villages.
Students are also encouraged to get involved in ETTI's poverty alleviation projects.
