Technical Skills

ETTI's Green Technology for Eco-Tourism (GTET) Program equips local youth with knowledge and skills that will enable them to find employment in the emerging eco-sensitive construction industry.
The training program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills and includes an on-the-job training component.

GTET Course Overview
  • Theory and principles of sustainable eco-tourism
  • Socio-cultural, environmental and economic sustainability ¨C background knowledge on the three main elements of ¡°green¡± or eco-tourism.
  • General overview of new and existing technology as well as ecologically sound practices.
  • Case studies from China and around the world
  • Composting toilets and waste disposal/recycling
  • Power systems- solar power and other renewable energy sources
  • Heating systems- solar hot water and other sustainable sources of heating.
  • Energy saving devices and ways to minimise use and waste of resources such as water.
  • Eco certification ¨C identifying genuine eco-tourism and nature tourism operators.
  • Practical project: install composting toilets and energy saving devices in local hotels and guesthouses
