The Eastern Tibetan Training Institute (ETTI) is a not-for-profit organization working to improve the livelihoods of remote communities in China's western regions through training-based poverty alleviation programs. Youth Pre-employment Training (YPET)
Every year ETTI offers up to 50 full scholarships to young people from impoverished backgrounds.
Aged between 16 and 21 participants undergo intensive, live-in training in customer service, computer literacy, written Chinese, spoken English, basic accounting and life skills.
The program includes work experience, delivered in partnership with local employers.
ETTI’s vocational training for vulnerable young women includes social awareness components designed to minimize the risks of exploitation.
Graduates from ETTI’s YPET program enjoy a greater than 90% success rate in finding their first paid jobs. ETTI’s database tracks graduates’ careers since 2005.
